Ata-Ul-Haq Qasmi was born on February 1, 1943 in Amritsar, British India. After the partition his father, Bhah ul Haq Qasmi, decided to migrate to Pakistan. His Family first settled in Wazirabad and then moved to Lahore. Ata-Ul-Haq Qasmi completed his Masters in Urdu from M.A.O College, Lahore.
Qasmi is one the most famous writer, poet and columnist of Pakistan who has been writing Urdu columns for more than last 45 years in the leading newspapers like Nawa-i-Waqt and Daily Jang. He has an exceptional style of writing, unmatched to any other columnist because of his humorous way of writing. Usually he writes serious issues in such a unique style which holds the reader till the last line of his column. He also has the honor to serve as the Ambassador of Pakistan in Norway and Thailand from 1997 to 1999. Some of his most popular TV Drama Serials include "Khwaja and Son", "Shab Daig", "Sheeda Talli" and books of columns include "Column Tamam", "Shar Goshiyan", "Hansna Rona Mana Hay", "Mazeed Ganjey Farishtey".
Qasmi has also received the Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz (highest civil awards) from President of Pakistan in addition to many other awards over his literary contributions.
